Hoana Riutoto was one of two women who signed the Waikato-Manukau treaty sheet at Waikato Heads at the end of March or beginning of April 1840. From Ngāti Mahuta at Kāwhia, she was an ancestor of both Kīngitanga (Māori King movement) leader Te Puea Hērangi and land rights campaigner Eva Rickard.
