Otaio war memorial

Image
Detail from memorial

Otaio war memorial. The memorial is made from Timaru Bluestone in three parts on a single concrete plinth. It has apparently been re-located recently and it (now) has a concrete surround, four newer bluestone bollards and a chain.

It comprises a Cross of St Andrew on square tapered column with an integral engraved tablet which shows that the name of must have been originally misspelled and it has clearly been carved back and re-engraved.

* The Otaio War Memorial is now sited beside the Otaio Hall at Otaio on Woolshed Valley road. It was moved to this new site on the closure of the school which is now in private hands.
